One of the most noteworthy items about the new site is the ability of the council members to update the content themselves, including posting meeting agendas, minutes, bio information, images and committee information.
The web site is programmed in PHP and uses MySQL for it's database. It has its own CMS (Content Management System) tailored to the council's needs. Among other features the CMS makes it possible for each committee to upload their agendas and meeting minutes in PDF form without having to know HTML or have any programming skills.
The Council has the ability to self-manage content through a web-based administrative panel where text can be added in a user-friendly editor.
This project was a 100% ground up rework, custom programmed, is database backed and has a CMS built to spec. The process took approximately 8 weeks from approval and acceptance of the proposal to launch.
